Sclerotherapy or Laser Vein Removal? How to Choose the Right Treatment

Visible veins on the legs or face—whether they’re spider veins or varicose veins—can cause both cosmetic concerns and physical discomfort. At Medicus Aesthetics, we specialize in advanced solutions like Sclerotherapy and Laser Vein Removal to help you restore confidence and comfort. But how do you know which option is best for you?

Understanding Vein Concerns

Spider veins and varicose veins develop when blood pools in weakened or damaged veins. While often harmless, they may cause discomfort, swelling, or cosmetic insecurities. Effective treatments like sclerotherapy and laser technology target these problem veins, improving both appearance and circulation.

What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy involves injecting a medical solution directly into the vein, causing it to collapse and fade from view. It’s a gold-standard treatment for small to medium spider veins and has been trusted for decades.

What is Laser Vein Removal?

Laser Vein Treatment uses focused light energy to target and close off problem veins without needles or injections. It is especially effective for smaller veins on the face and legs.

Benefits of Each Treatment

Sclerotherapy Benefits

  • Highly effective for spider and reticular veins
  • Minimal downtime
  • Proven, long-term results

Laser Vein Removal Benefits

  • Non-invasive, no injections required
  • Ideal for delicate areas like the face
  • Quick treatment sessions

Who is a Candidate?

Both treatments are safe for most healthy adults. Candidates for sclerotherapy often have visible leg veins, while laser therapy is preferred for smaller facial veins. A personalized consultation helps determine the best approach for your unique needs.

Treatment Process & Recovery

Sclerotherapy typically takes 30 minutes, with patients returning to normal activities the same day. Laser therapy sessions are even quicker and virtually painless. At Medicus Aesthetics, we ensure every patient receives customized care and post-treatment guidance for optimal results.

Safety & Side Effects

Both procedures are FDA-approved and performed by skilled providers. Minor side effects like redness, bruising, or temporary skin irritation may occur but resolve quickly. Your safety and comfort remain our top priority.

Key Differences Between Sclerotherapy & Laser

While both treatments effectively reduce unwanted veins, their methods differ. Sclerotherapy uses an injectable solution for lasting results on leg veins, while laser is non-invasive and best for surface-level veins, particularly on the face.

How to Choose the Right Treatment

Choosing between sclerotherapy and laser depends on the type, size, and location of your veins, as well as your comfort with injections. During your consultation, our specialists will guide you toward the best solution to achieve clear, healthy-looking skin.
